Gabriel and Max Have Only Known Their Father in Prison
Stella Assange, the wife of Julian Assange, has revealed that the couple's two children still don't know that the Wikileaks founder has been freed from prison.
In an interview with BBC's Mishal Husain, Stella Assange said that her children, Gabriel, five, and Max, three, have never seen their father outside of a prison and that she's not used to talking about her family in public.
"They've only ever seen their father in a prison environment," she said. "And it's very difficult to explain to a five-year-old why his father is in prison and why he can't see him."
Assange was arrested in 2010 on charges related to the publication of classified US military and diplomatic documents. He spent seven years in the Ecuadorian embassy in London before being arrested in 2019.
He was extradited to the United States in 2022 and is currently facing charges under the Espionage Act. He could face up to 175 years in prison if convicted.
