Craig Bellamy Extends Coaching Contract with Melbourne Storm

Former Wales Captain and Burnley Assistant Faces Bankruptcy

Australian Rugby League Coach Commits to Melbourne Storm

Craig Douglas Bellamy, the 43-year-old Welsh former footballer, has declared bankruptcy despite earning significant transfer fees throughout his career. Meanwhile, his namesake, Craig Bellamy, the 61-year-old Australian rugby league coach, has extended his contract with the Melbourne Storm until at least 2026. The elder Bellamy declined an offer from the Cronulla Sharks to remain with the Melbourne Storm.

The younger Bellamy, who played as a forward for Wales and Burnley, has been working as an assistant manager at Burnley since 2021. His recent financial troubles stem from unpaid taxes and debts. The exact amount of his cumulative transfer fees was not disclosed.

In contrast, the elder Bellamy, who is not related to the younger Bellamy, has enjoyed a successful coaching career with the Melbourne Storm. He has led the team to three NRL premierships and is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Australian rugby league.
